Leisure and activities Mojacar, Almeria.

Dinning Out

If you want to have a drink then you can go to one of the quiet little bars and sit outside on the terrace by the sea. Or if its laughter and music you're looking for, then your needs will be catered for in one of the Mojacar pubs. There's a splendid choice too, for food. A local dish in one of the many typical bars may tempt you as might a more international menu on offer in one of the restaurants. What ever you choose, you enjoy your meal.

Mini Hollywood (now Oyasis), Theme Park, Tabernas (Carretera Nacional 340)

In the incredible landscape of Tabernas desert, this Western City, remerbers you the 'Wild Far West'. Wonderful shows everyday except mondays. At 12 and 17 h. Some of the movies that were shot here are legendary: Sergio Leone's 'Dollars' trilogy ('A Fistful of Dollars', 'For a Few Dollars More' and 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly') starring Clint Eastwood as the Man with No Name, 'Django' with Franco Nero, the sequels to which never seemed to end... over a hundred titles were at least partially filmed in these dusty streets. Almería was also used as a location for other film genres after the sixties (Patton, The Wind and the Lion, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade...) but it was the spaghetti-western that really defined the relationship between the province and the film industry.

Coastline

The Mojacan coast has many different facets.

There are seventeen kilometres of caves and open beaches. Twelve of these beaches are virgin and the remaining five, which stretch from the Hotel Indalo to the Rambla de la Granatilla, are reserved for nude bathing.great beaches inanad around Mojacar
Coast line Mojacar

The coast of Mojacar which adjoins Carboneras is very steep. The foothills of the Sierra Cabrera stand in the warm waters of the Mediterranean caves. Beautiful caves of fine sand, hidden, intimate and often difficult to reach line the coast, for eight kilometres one after the other. "E1 Sombrerico" is one of the oldest caves, one and a half kilometres long and is situated in a small bay in front of a rock. This rock serves as a break water and is formed like a Mexican sombrero which explains the reason for its name. Here in this retreat, naturalists discover true paradise.

Following the coast line round to Mojacar you then encounter the Macenas beach. On the headland facing west, the only existing building is a look-out post, dating from the seventeenth century. After the Macenas beach, the sand extends for many kilometres, bordered on the one not far from the resort of Mojacar you will find the more remote beaches side by what will be the future ,Paseo Maritimo, and on the other by white houses, hotels and apartment blocks which have steadily grown in recent years in the area known as Playa de Mojacar.
